Seasonal Worship
Seasonal Worship
Throughout the Christian year, there are moments set apart for deeper reflection, remembrance, and celebration. These special services mark important seasons in the life of the church and help guide our spiritual journey through the rhythms of faith.
These moments invite us to remember where we have been, to reflect on where God is leading us, and to gather together in worship during the most significant seasons of the church year.
2026 - Easter Service - "Because He Lives"
The Easter service, centered on “Because He Lives,” carried the theater story beyond the sermon and into the entire flow of worship. From the opening moments, the tone reflected a movement from silence to life, from what feels closed and finished to something being reopened and restored. The image of the forgotten theater became more than an illustration. It shaped the way the service invited people to see themselves and their faith. Just as that building appeared lifeless but was never truly beyond renewal, the service created space for people to recognize the places in their own lives that feel dark, stalled, or forgotten. Through prayer, music, and scripture, the congregation was drawn into the realization that Easter is not about revisiting an old story. It is about stepping into a living one, where God is still restoring, still breathing life, and still bringing light into places that seem beyond repair.
As the service unfolded, the lyric “Because He lives” moved from something sung to something embodied. It became a thread that tied together every element, pointing back to the truth that the resurrection changes how we face everything that comes next. The empty tomb was not presented as a distant event, but as a present reality that speaks into fear, uncertainty, and even exhaustion. The service reinforced that because Christ lives, we are not confined to the roles we have been living or the endings we have assumed were final. Instead, we are invited into a renewed story marked by grace, courage, and possibility. The overall experience was not just a celebration of what happened on Easter morning, but a call to live differently because of it, to walk out of the shadows and into a life that is still being written, still unfolding, and still alive with hope.
2026 - Ash Wednesday Service - "A Countercultural Faith"
On Ash Wednesday, we gathered in a spirit of unity with Main Street United Methodist Church here in Nashua for a meaningful and reflective joint service. In a world that often feels divided and hurried, it was a gift to slow down together, to worship as one body, and to begin the Lenten journey side by side. The sanctuary held a sacred stillness as we marked our foreheads with ashes, remembering both our mortality and our deep belonging to God.
“A Countercultural Faith” invited us to consider how following Christ often runs against the grain of the world’s expectations. Reverend Kelly Turney delivered a thoughtful and challenging message, reminding us that humility over pride, repentance over self-justification, and love over power are not just spiritual ideals but radical choices. As we entered the season of Lent, we were reminded that faithfulness may not always be loud or popular, but it is transformative. It was a beautiful beginning to a season of reflection, renewal, and return to what truly matters.
2025 - Christmas Eve Service - "The Night Heaven Broke Open"
Christmas Eve at Arlington Street United Methodist Church was centered on the theme, “The Night Heaven Broke Open”, a reminder that the birth of Jesus was not a quiet footnote in history, but a holy interruption where heaven met earth. Through scripture, music, and candlelight, we retold the familiar story of Jesus’ birth in a way that invited us to hear it again with fresh hearts. From the angels’ proclamation to the humble manger, the sanctuary became a place where wonder lingered, hope was rekindled, and the promise of God’s presence felt near and real.
As the story unfolded, the service drew us into the beauty of that holy night when light entered the darkness, and God came close in the most unexpected way. Voices rose in song, candles glowed against the night, and the atmosphere was filled with reverence and peace. Whether present in the sanctuary or joining us online, we were reminded that Christmas is the moment when heaven breaks open again and again, meeting us in our longing, our joy, and our need for hope. We are deeply grateful for all who shared in this sacred telling of the story and for the love and light that filled the night.
